Anyone who ran into us Saturday night would remark that we couldn’t shut up about how dope Hot 104.7’s Hot Summer concert was. With a backdrop of the Gulf of Maine and just over 3,000 people in attendance, it was bound to be a night and a half.
To start things off, the local acts who opened up for the show were all extremely talented in their own respects. Right out the gate was ILLiJah and Snow who had a great 1, 2 punch with smooth vocals along and the punch of hard rap. After that was Saco’s own, B.Aull, who had a crazy, 90’s oriented flow with the swag to match it. The opening acts got the whole crowd all sorts of amped for the rest of the night.
The darker the night got though; the more it started heating up.
Dreezy stepped on stage and everyone in the crowd new it. This artist had some great stage presence and dope lyrics. I look forward to hearing more from her in the future.
Kat Deluna is a veteran in the game with international hits like, “Whine it Up”, you can’t resist but dance while she’s on stage. It felt great hearing that track too because I swear it brought me back to high school dances in my head… weird, but great times.
Post Malone blew Portland away with some of our personal favorites. Having listened to his new mixtape “August 26” non-stop leading up to the event, we were beside ourselves when Post came right out of the gate with “Monte” and “Hollywood Dreams / Comedown”. Both tracks are absolute bangers. When you add that with “Too Young” and “White Iverson” , it doesn’t get much better.
Niykee Heaton came out and we thought she damn near caught the stage on fire when she sang Bad Intentions. Her voice blew us away and her looks… well… it just goes unsaid at this point, right?
Ty Dolla $ign had all of the ladies going nuts. He played all of his classic radio jams and even ripped his shirt off and jumped in the crowd (gotta love it).
Fat Joe delivered a killer performance and helped draw out enough fans to fill the Maine State Pier. He played all of the classics and even brought a special guest to rap “Lean Back” with him… POST MALONE. You could tell it was a dream come true for Post since the first CD he ever bought was by Fat Joe.
Every single act showed up and killed it. Despite the fact that some of our photos came out blurry (even the camera was lit), getting to experience an event with so much energy was unreal. Also, HUGE shout out to Samantha and the whole Hot 104.7 crew!!! They put together such an amazing show and we thank them for the opportunity to check out the show. Can’t wait for the next one!
